On the afternoon of June 14, the university invited Mr. Yu Guoming, an alumnus of the Class of 2016 who successfully summited Mount Qomolangma wearing the Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) badge, back to his alma mater to share his climbing experience and life insights with teachers and students across the university. Zhang Shuang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Management, presided over the event. Also in attendance were He Jing, the first Chinese woman to summit Mount Qomolangma without supplementary oxygen, Gou Xingwang, Deputy Director of the Office of External Relations, Wang Haixiao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Management, Bai Jie, Assistant to the Dean of the School of Management, and more than 400 students from the university.

At the homecoming forum, Yu Guoming briefly shared the arduous journey of summiting Mount Qomolangma with 10 student representatives from the School of Management. Every challenge, from preparatory training to reaching the summit, was filled with his love and perseverance for the climbing cause. He Jing also shared her experience of summiting Mount Qomolangma without supplementary oxygen, talking about how she stayed calm in extreme environments and overcame the physical and psychological limits.

The perseverance and courage of the two guests deeply admired all the teachers and students present. The participating students discussed and exchanged ideas with the two guests on interesting topics such as mountaineering and personal development. On behalf of the university, Zhang Shuang presented a gift to Yu Guoming, who in return gave an autographed photo of his Mount Qomolangma summit.

After the forum, more than 400 teachers and students from the university gathered in Lecture Hall D100 of the West Teaching Building on the Chang'an Campus to attend Yu Guoming's keynote speech titled Summiting Mount Qomolangma, Surpassing Oneself.

At the speech, combining video, pictures and other materials, Yu Guoming shared his observations, feelings and insights during the climb with a more in-depth and detailed description. From a "first-person perspective", he led all teachers and students to experience the arduous journey of summiting Mount Qomolangma, allowing everyone to appreciate the grandeur of the Roof of the World, the magnificence of Mount Qomolangma and the wonder of glaciers. He depicted the harsh natural environment, extreme physical challenges and inner struggles faced during the climb, making all teachers and students feel the perseverance, dedication and hardships behind summiting Mount Qomolangma. Talking about the enlightenment and insights brought by summiting Mount Qomolangma, he said that reaching the summit is not only a physical challenge, but also a spiritual tempering. During the climb, he not only learned to revere nature, respect science and cherish life, but also learned how to face difficulties, challenge himself and surpass himself. At the end of the speech, inspired by his own experience, he encouraged everyone to hold fast to the belief of "NPU for the World, Aeronautics, Astronautics and Oceanography for the Globe", take actions of "daring to climb and striving for progress", bravely pursue dreams, dare to face challenges, constantly become a better self, and make greater contributions to the development of the university.

Yu Guoming interacted and communicated with the teachers and students present, patiently answering the students' questions, and the atmosphere on site was warm and harmonious.

In her concluding remarks, Zhang Shuang stated that this speech was not only a successful alumni exchange event, but also a vivid life education lesson. She hoped that all teachers and students could draw strength from it, strengthen their beliefs, forge ahead courageously and pursue excellence. In the future, the university will continue to strengthen alumni liaison work, invite more alumni role models to the university and get close to teachers and students, promote the university's talent cultivation and cultural inheritance and innovation, inspire the courage and determination of teachers and students to scale new heights, and jointly write a brilliant new chapter of "NPU for the World, Aeronautics, Astronautics and Oceanography for the Globe".
