5. Eligibility Review for the Re-examination

(1) Documents to be Submitted for Eligibility Review

  1. Valid identification document (copies of both sides shall be printed on one A4 sheet; submit the copy, and the original shall be kept for inspection);

  2. Academic and degree certificates (graduating students shall provide student ID cards; submit the copies, and the originals shall be kept for inspection);

  3. Personal resume (on one A4 sheet);

  4. Published or accepted academic papers, award certificates at or above the university level, or other materials that can prove the candidate's scientific research ability and level (submit copies);

  5. A research proposal for the professional comprehensive competence interview (five copies in total, printed on both sides).

(2) Procedures for Eligibility Review

Candidates are required to sort out the above documents into one file in the aforementioned order. Meanwhile, they should bring the originals of their valid identification documents and academic and degree certificates (or student ID cards for graduating students) to the school in sequence for review at the time and place notified by the school. The school will strengthen the verification of candidates' identities. It will check the information of the candidates themselves, their ID cards and the abridged registration information forms to strictly prevent proxy examinations.

6. Content and Requirements of the Re-examination

The re-examination consists of a specialized foreign language written test and a professional comprehensive competence interview (including the assessment of ideological and political status as well as psychological quality). Each part of the re-examination score will be marked out of 100 points, and the total re-examination score will be calculated proportionally. The sequence and requirements of the re-examination content are as follows:

  1. Specialized Foreign Language Written Test (Accounting for 20% of the Total Re-examination Score)

    • Assessment Method: On-site closed-book written test in accordance with the re-examination arrangements.

    • Assessment Content: Comprehensive assessment of candidates' ability to read and understand specialized foreign language documents.

  2. Professional Comprehensive Competence Interview (Accounting for 80% of the Total Re-examination Score)

    • Assessment Method: It includes the assessment of ideological and political status and psychological quality (accounting for 10% of the total re-examination score), the assessment of English listening and speaking skills (accounting for 10% of the total re-examination score), and the professional comprehensive assessment (accounting for 60% of the total re-examination score).

    • Assessment Content: The assessment of ideological and political status and psychological quality covers candidates' political attitudes, ideological performance, moral character, and mental health. Special attention will be paid to evaluating candidates' scientific spirit, academic ethics, professional ethics, and integrity. The assessment of English listening and speaking skills mainly tests candidates' ability in listening and speaking of the foreign language.

For the professional comprehensive assessment, applicants are required to select a specific project in combination with the research direction of the supervisor they intend to apply for. The project can be related to the supervisor's research direction but is not limited to the content that must be carried out during the doctoral study period. Applicants should write a research proposal including research background, research objectives, research content, research methods, innovations, etc., and list the necessary references. The research proposal will be evaluated by the comprehensive assessment expert group.

Candidates shall report to the expert group via PPT. The PPT should include an introduction to their basic information and previous achievements (which can be combined with their research content during the master's degree study or any research projects they have participated in before) and a presentation of the research proposal. The presentation shall not exceed 15 minutes. After the presentation, candidates will answer questions raised by the expert group.

7. Admission Work

(1) Calculation of the Total Score

Total Admission Score = Specialized Foreign Language Written Test Score × 0.2 + Professional Comprehensive Competence Interview Score × 0.8

(2) Admission Principles

  1. Conduct a comprehensive evaluation of morality, intelligence and physical fitness, admit students based on merit, ensure the admission quality, and rather leave vacancies than admit unqualified candidates;

  2. Adhere to the principles of openness, fairness, impartiality and merit-based admission;

  3. Candidates who fail the political review, the assessment of ideological and political status and psychological quality, achieve a total admission score of less than 60 points (out of 100 points), or are identified as having violated rules or disciplines during the re-examination will not be admitted;

  4. For graduating master's students, if they fail to obtain a nationally recognized master's degree certificate upon enrollment (the start time of the 2025 doctoral program shall be subject to the university's official notice), their admission qualification will be revoked;

  5. For candidates who pass the re-examination, the school will admit them in descending order of their total scores in the corresponding disciplines and programs based on the results of the comprehensive assessment and the enrollment quotas.

8. Disciplinary Requirements for the Re-examination

  1. Candidates are strictly prohibited from engaging in such acts as fraud, proxy examination and cheating. Once verified, penalties will be imposed in accordance with the Measures for the Handling of Violations in National Education Examinations and the Interim Measures for the Handling of Violations in Enrollment of Institutions of Higher Education depending on the severity of the violation.

  2. Candidates are strictly prohibited from recording videos or audios during the re-examination. Before the completion of all university re-examination work, candidates are not allowed to upload re-examination - related materials to the Internet or provide them to relevant training institutions. Once verified, their proposed admission qualification will be revoked and they will be held accountable for corresponding responsibilities.

  3. Matters not covered herein shall be implemented in accordance with the provisions of the university and the school.

9. Information Disclosure

  1. In accordance with the national requirements for the disclosure of examination information and the principles of "whoever discloses the information shall be responsible for reviewing it" and "whoever discloses the information shall be responsible for explaining it", each school shall actively promote the disclosure of enrollment information. Relevant information shall be publicized on the official website of each school, including the re-examination plan, the number of enrollment quotas for each discipline and program, the list of candidates participating in the re-examination, and the list of candidates to be admitted (including candidates' names, candidate numbers, total re-examination scores, etc.).
