On the morning of November 18th, at the invitation of the School of Management, Associate Professor Wang Peng from the Faculty of Business and Management at BNU-HKBU United International College held an academic exchange with faculty and students in Lecture Hall 214 of the College Building on the Chang'an Campus. He delivered an academic lecture titled "Intergenerational Capital Endowment and External Financing of New Ventures: A Configurational Analysis Based on fsQCA." The lecture was chaired by Professor Xiao Zhenxin from the School of Management, and was attended by some faculty members and graduate students of the school.

During the lecture, Associate Professor Wang Peng focused on the fsQCA analytical method, sharing the research findings of a recent academic paper and delving into how it drives scientific research innovation in the fields of economics and management. Associate Professor Wang first introduced the conditions and effectiveness of using the fsQCA method. He then presented his study titled "Intergenerational Capital Endowments and External Funding in New Ventures: A Fuzzy-Set Qualitative Comparative Analysis," co-authored with his collaborators and published in the internationally renowned journal Management and Organization Review. Using survey data from new ventures, the study reveals the impact of inconsistencies in social capital, human capital, and economic capital between parents and entrepreneurs on the failure of external financing. The research identifies four types of situations in which external investors directly refuse to invest.

The entire lecture was informative, offered fresh perspectives, and closely followed the latest academic trends. During the interactive session, faculty and students actively asked questions, engaging in lively and in-depth discussions with Associate Professor Wang Peng on topics such as the technical principles of fsQCA, its application methods in specific research, and potential future research directions.

This academic exchange event not only broadened the academic horizons of the attending faculty and students, sparking a strong interest in the field of new venture financing, but also actively contributed to fostering a positive atmosphere for scientific research innovation within the school.
