On the morning of March 20, Professor Liang Liang from Hefei University of Technology was invited to deliver two academic reports entitled Human and Machine Behavior in Rock-Paper-Scissors and AI and Management Science Research in Lecture Hall 214 of the School of Management, Northwestern Polytechnical University. The reports were hosted by Professor Che Ada, Dean of the school, and attended by doctoral and master’s students as well as some faculty members from the School of Management.

In the research themed Human and Machine Behavior in Rock-Paper-Scissors, Professor Liang integrated cognitive science and machine learning models to analyze the behavioral characteristics of humans when generating random numbers and the issue of machine strategy optimization. The research first revealed the psychological traits of humans in rock-paper-scissors, including habitual moves, emotional fluctuations and strategy adjustments, pointing out that human decision-making is often dominated by psychological inertia. Subsequently, by exploring the behavioral patterns of machines, Professor Liang demonstrated how algorithms and probability analysis enable machines to quickly learn opponents’ move patterns and make optimal decisions. Finally, he summarized the essential differences between humans and machines in rock-paper-scissors: humans rely on intuition and emotion, while machines operate based on logic and computation. This comparison not only highlights the significant advantages of artificial intelligence in strategy optimization, but also provides a brand-new theoretical perspective and practical implications for in-depth research in the field of human-machine interaction in the future.
In the section on AI and Management Science Research, Professor Liang reviewed the development history of management science and emphasized that current research needs to be more oriented to national demands, promoting the transformation from an output-oriented model to a value-oriented one. The professor pointed out that with the rapid development of AI technology, management science research should go beyond the traditional pursuit of efficiency, and focus on national strategic needs, including social benefits, sustainable development, and the coordinated development of organizations and the environment.
