On September 11, the 2024 National Fund Application Mobilization and Exchange Meeting of the School of Management was held in Room 214 of the School of Management at Chang’an Campus. The meeting was hosted by Associate Professor Li Chenglong, Assistant to the Dean. It invited the winners of the 2023 National Fund to share their experience. Dean Che Ada and Vice Dean Jia Ming delivered speeches respectively and exchanged ideas with more than 20 participating faculty members on site.

Jia Ming briefed the audience on the approval status of the School’s National Fund applications over the past five years. He analyzed the development trend of the School’s National Fund applications in recent years through data and trend changes, and proposed that all faculty members eligible to apply for the 2024 national-level fund projects should make early plans and careful preparations. The School will effectively improve the quality of fund application proposals by organizing multiple rounds of expert counseling sessions and providing one-on-one guidance.

Professor Wang Yang, winner of the General Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China this year, shared his experience and insights from three rounds of applications and the eventual approval of the National Fund. He analyzed and interpreted the topic selection, research background and significance, feasibility analysis, and other aspects of the project, and put forward the core idea of “advance preparation and extreme thinking”. He suggested that everyone should carefully polish the application proposals, pay attention to every detail, and effectively improve the quality of the fund application documents. Associate Professor Wang Peng, winner of the Young Scientists Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, elaborated on his experience and insights leading to the final approval by comparing his two attempts at applying for the Young Scientists Fund. Associate Professor Mu Zihao, another winner of the Young Scientists Fund, shared the tasks to be completed and details to be noted in each time period from the perspectives of preparation and writing, combined with the content structure of the application proposal.

Che Ada summarized and analyzed the main differences between the applications for the National Natural Science Foundation of China projects and the National Social Science Foundation of China projects. He emphasized the importance of young faculty members applying for national-level fund projects, and encouraged eligible teachers to actively participate in the applications, identify the right research directions, and make advance plans. Meanwhile, he shared his personal application experience and conducted in-depth exchanges with the participating faculty members.
