Recently, Associate Professor Wang Yang from the School of Management of our university, serving as the corresponding author, collaborated with Associate Professor Wu Qinghua from Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Dr. Fred Glover, Member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, to publish an academic paper titled Advanced Tabu Search Algorithms for Bipartite Boolean Quadratic Programs Guided by Strategic Oscillation and Path Relinking in INFORMS Journal on Computing—one of the world’s most prestigious academic publications included in the UTD Top 24 Business Journals list for the field of management.

Focusing on a general model for graph optimization problems, the paper proposes a novel method that integrates ultra-large-scale neighborhoods into the tabu search framework. It innovatively adopts a frequency- and domain knowledge-driven strategic perturbation mechanism to enhance the diversification performance of the search. For the first time, it also employs multiple adaptive local optimization methods in the path relinking algorithm to improve the intensification performance of the search, and presents a detailed analysis of the algorithm’s performance.

The UTD Top 24 is a list of 24 top-tier journals in the management discipline defined by the University of Texas at Dallas. Covering fields such as operations management, information systems management, finance, marketing, accounting, and strategic management, it serves as a critical reference for global business school research strength rankings and enjoys extremely high international recognition. Meanwhile, this list is also an important reference criterion for the evaluation of major talent program projects in fields such as the Department of Management Sciences of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the management disciplines of the Ministry of Education.
INFORMS Journal on Computing is a quarterly publication of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), accepting only approximately 40 academic papers annually. The publication of this paper marks the School of Management’s first-ever breakthrough in publishing in an international top-tier journal, and stands as a landmark achievement in the school’s "Double First-Class" construction initiative.

In recent years, the School of Management has implemented a variety of measures to attract and cultivate talents, comprehensively elevating the academic research capabilities of its faculty. It has successively formulated and rolled out initiatives including the Excellent Young Teachers Training and Funding Program of the School of Management, the Top-Tier Journal Paper and Young Top Talent Cultivation Program of the School of Management, and the Overseas Chair Professor Support Program of the School of Management. These programs provide outstanding young teachers with first-class remuneration packages and favorable academic exchange opportunities, encourage and fund them to conduct cutting-edge exploratory research in their respective disciplines, and build platforms for substantive 1+1 research collaborations between outstanding young teachers and world-leading scholars. Additionally, guided by the goal of knowledge innovation, the school has revised the Discipline Construction Award Measures of the School of Management, increasing incentives for achievements such as papers published in top-tier journals, ESI highly cited papers, papers published in domestic top management journals, and teaching or research achievement awards at or above the provincial and ministerial levels, thereby motivating all faculty and students to continuously improve their teaching and research standards. The school has also established a dedicated support position for young teachers to handle their daily administrative chores, ensuring that young teachers can devote more energy to their core responsibilities of teaching and research.
The series of policy supports have gradually yielded remarkable results. Moving forward, the School of Management will continue to be guided by the goals of improving talent cultivation quality and academic research standards, continuously optimize its management systems, and promote the rapid and comprehensive development of the entire school.
