On the morning of November 27, 2024, Professor Hepu Deng from RMIT University was invited to deliver an academic lecture titled "Digital Work and Job Performance: An Integrated Perspective" in Lecture Hall 214 of the School of Management, Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU). This lecture marked the 29th session of the 2024 Overseas Lecture Series hosted by the School of Management. Chaired by Associate Professor Yan Xu, it was attended by some faculty members and graduate students from the School of Management.

In his lecture, Professor Hepu Deng profoundly elaborated on the close relationship between digital work and job performance. He provided a detailed introduction to how digital technologies promote knowledge sharing and enhance job performance, as well as the profound impact of digital work on work-life balance. By sharing findings from two recently published papers, Professor Deng emphasized the importance of digital work, pointing out that the advancement of digital work not only improves work efficiency and quality but also helps employees achieve a better balance between work and personal life.

At the end of the lecture, Professor Hepu Deng answered questions from participating faculty and students, and further conducted in-depth research discussions with graduate students of our school through a workshop. Through this exchange, the faculty and students gained a profound understanding of the relationship between digital work and job performance.

[Lecturer's Biography]

Professor Hepu Deng holds a PhD from Monash University. He is currently a Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, and member of the University Executive Committee at RMIT University. His main research areas include decision analysis, digital business, technology applications, and knowledge management.

He has published more than 100 papers in prestigious international journals, including Journal of Operational Research Society, European Journal of Operational Research, Computers and Operations Research, International Journal of Approximate Reasoning, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, Government Information Quarterly, Expert Systems with Applications, Computers and Mathematics with Applications, Transportation Research Part A and Part F, Internet Research, Information Technology and People, International Journal of Marketing Management, Journal of Computer Information Systems, and Management Research Review. His cumulative citations on Google Scholar exceed 9,672, with an H-index of 44.
