Recently, the National Office of Philosophy and Social Sciences announced the list of approved major tender projects of the National Social Science Fund of China for 2021. The project Research on the Theory and Practice of Corporate Low-Carbon Value Creation, submitted by Professor Jia Ming from the School of Management as the chief expert, was officially approved.

The Major Tender Projects of the National Social Science Fund of China are among the principal categories of the National Social Science Fund projects. They represent the highest-level and most generously funded research initiatives in the field of philosophy and social sciences in China.
The project approved for Professor Jia Ming focuses on the national "30·60" dual carbon goals (carbon peaking by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060). Centering on the major challenges faced by Chinese enterprises in the process of achieving low-carbon value creation, it systematically analyzes the theories and realization paths of low-carbon value creation for Chinese enterprises from five dimensions, including the decomposition and determination basis of carbon responsibilities among enterprise stakeholders, and the key factors influencing corporate carbon emission reduction. This project will help Chinese enterprises address prominent management issues in low-carbon development, enable them to effectively integrate low-carbon transition with high-quality development, support the national "30·60" dual carbon goals, and contribute to the high-quality economic and social development of the country.
This project was successfully applied for by the research team of the Research Center for High-Quality Enterprise Development in the New Era at Northwestern Polytechnical University. Officially established in June 2021, the center is a highland for philosophical and social science research built by the School to vigorously promote the development of philosophy and social sciences and carry out organized scientific research. Professor Jia Ming serves as the Director of the center, and Tenured Associate Professor Yang Qian acts as the Deputy Director. The team members include four young faculty members: Shao Jing, Zhang Ying, Huang Zhen and Liu Hui. Driven by serving national major strategies, the center has formed a "3-3-3" development philosophy, namely, based on three core capabilities (talent cultivation, policy consultation, and public enlightenment), focusing on three key fields (common prosperity, the "30·60" dual carbon goals, and the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative), and advancing three major initiatives (constructing new theories for high-quality enterprise development, developing new majors in low-carbon technology and management, and supporting enterprises in implementing national major strategies).
The application for this major social science project received strong support from multiple institutions, including the School of Power and Energy of Northwestern Polytechnical University, the Lee Kong Chian School of Business at Singapore Management University, the School of Management of Xi’an Jiaotong University, the School of Energy and Power Engineering of Xi’an Jiaotong University; State Grid E-Commerce Co., Ltd., Datang Hancheng No.2 Power Generation Co., Ltd., Shaanxi Longmen Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., China United Cement Group Co., Ltd., China Eastern Airlines Technology Application & Development Center Co., Ltd., Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd., and LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd. This fully demonstrates the School’s effectiveness in conducting organized scientific research and building a platform for industry-university-research collaboration.
Going forward, the School will make persistent efforts to pool team strengths, improve the application work for major and key scientific research projects, continuously focus on enhancing research quality, strive to elevate the overall scientific research strength of the School, forge ahead on the path to becoming a first-class domestic and internationally renowned school of management, and make new contributions to the university’s "Double First-Class" initiative.
