On the afternoon of May 23, 2021, the School of Management invited Professor Li Wei'an, Chair Professor of Nankai University and Dean of the China Corporate Governance Research Institute, to deliver a report titled "The Formation and Development of the Emerging Discipline of Corporate Governance". The report was chaired by Professor Che Ada from the School of Management, and more than 150 teachers and students from the school attended the report.
At the beginning of the report meeting, Professor Li Wei'an introduced in detail the development of corporate governance theory based on his own experience. He pointed out the research path of corporate governance from the aspects of governance structure, corporate governance, and domestic governance, and mentioned that its research directions include governance behavior and mechanism, network governance research, governance effectiveness research, and governance experimental research. Based on this, Professor Li Wei'an further emphasized the importance of experimental research combined with neuroscience for corporate governance research.
Next, Professor Li pointed out that the evolution path of corporate governance is from administrative to economic, and further introduced the development of the corporate governance evaluation system for listed companies in China. Based on this, he elaborated on the practicality and importance of the CCTV Corporate Governance Leadership Index, Corporate Governance Stock Price Index, and Green Corporate Governance Index, thereby realizing the transition from theory to practice. Subsequently, Professor Li provided a detailed analysis of the development of corporate governance at home and abroad in the form of a literature review.
Finally, Professor Li, drawing from his own practice, introduced the development trajectory of corporate governance from three perspectives: the establishment and construction of discipline points, the construction of corporate governance standards, and the construction of corporate governance societies. He also elaborated on the importance of corporate governance from aspects such as the reform of application codes for the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the development strategy outlined in the 14th Five-Year Plan.

Professor Li Wei'an currently holds the position of Chair Professor at Nankai University, serves as the Dean of the China Corporate Governance Research Institute, and is the Chief Editor of the "Encyclopedia of China - Business Administration Volume". Additionally, he concurrently holds several other positions, including the Co-Chairman of the China Management Modernization Research Association, the Executive Vice President of the China Enterprise Management Research Association, the Expert Vice President of the China Association for Promoting Group Corporations, a member of the Professional Qualification Certification Committee for External Directors of Central Enterprises, and the Deputy Director of the Business Administration Teaching Guidance Committee under the Ministry of Education. In the past, he has served as the President of Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, the President of Tianjin University of Finance and Economics, the Convener of the Sixth Discipline Evaluation Group (Business Administration) of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, the Vice President of the China Management Science and Engineering Society, the Dean of the Business School at Nankai University, and the Chief Editor of "Nankai Management Review".
