On December 2, the 6th Undergraduate Project Management Case Analysis Competition of the School of Management, Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) came to a successful conclusion. As a signature event of the 12th Management Science and Culture Festival, the competition was hosted by the School of Management and organized by the Department of Management Science and Engineering. It aimed to guide students to apply professional knowledge of project management to conduct in-depth analysis of real case scenarios, propose practical solutions, and comprehensively enhance their practical abilities, innovative thinking and team spirit.
This year's competition attracted a record-high participation of more than 110 undergraduate students forming 31 teams from 12 schools of NPU, including the School of Management, School of Aeronautics, School of Marine Engineering, School of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Power and Energy, and School of Automation. On November 16, the competition launch meeting and pre-competition training session were held successfully. Wang Haixiao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Management, delivered an opening speech. Professor Fu Chenyi from the Department of Management Science and Engineering elaborated on the competition schedule, and Gao Sijia, captain of the top prize-winning team of the 5th competition, shared competition experience with all participants.
During the competition, each participating team spent one week conducting in-depth research on the competition case and ultimately submitted 29 case analysis reports. The reports underwent anonymous review by 4 corporate mentors with rich practical experience and 2 professors from other universities. The evaluation panel selected 1 team for the Top Prize, 3 for the First Prize, 5 for the Second Prize, 11 for the Third Prize and 9 for the Excellence Award.
The successful holding of this competition is a vivid embodiment of the School of Management's practice of the educational philosophy of nurturing "Chief Engineer-type" talents, and also a solid step in advancing the construction of the first-class undergraduate program in Engineering Management. The School of Management will continue to optimize the integrated education mechanism of "Learning-Competition-Practice", closely connect disciplinary frontiers, competition practice and industrial demands, and lay a solid foundation for building first-class programs and cultivating future-oriented "Chief Engineer-type" management talents.
