On October 21, 2025, at the invitation of the School of Management, Associate Professor Lin Hongyuan from the School of Technology and Business at the University of Science and Technology of China delivered an academic lecture titled "A Heuristic Algorithm for Warehouse Assortment Selection Based on Birkhoff-von Neumann Decomposition" in Conference Room 214 of the school. The lecture was hosted by Professor Fu Chenyi from the School of Management, and was attended by some faculty members and students of the school.

At the beginning of the session, Professor Fu Chenyi briefly introduced Associate Professor Lin Hongyuan's background and academic achievements, and the attending faculty and students extended a warm welcome to his visit. During the lecture, Associate Professor Lin Hongyuan presented the background, research model, and algorithm design for the warehouse assortment selection problem. Based on the results of a linear relaxation model, this study proposes a novel Birkhoff-von Neumann decomposition method, which effectively improves computational efficiency for large-scale problems while ensuring high solution quality.

Associate Professor Lin Hongyuan's lecture closely addressed the practical issue of warehouse assortment selection. The presentation was vivid, thorough, and logically clear, highlighting a research orientation focused on real-world problems. Through this academic exchange, faculty and students gained a deeper understanding and appreciation of the latest advances in the fields of warehouse optimization and intelligent decision-making.
