On the afternoon of November 3, 2021, at the invitation of the School of Management, Professor Li Qingyuan, Vice Dean of the School of Economics and Management, Wuhan University, delivered an online lecture entitled "Information Advantages of Industry Co-ownership" to teachers and students of the School of Management. The lecture was hosted by Professor Chen Lin.
In the lecture, Professor Li Qingyuan first elaborated that the information advantages of institutional investors within the same industry enable them to distinguish between positive and negative industry-specific and firm-specific news, avoid being misled by false information into panicking and withdrawing investments, and thereby reduce the risk of stock price crashes. Subsequently, Professor Li emphasized the economic value of common owners in the stock market and the stabilizing effect brought by their information advantages, drawing on his own research. After the research sharing, Professor Li conducted in-depth online exchanges with teachers and students, sharing his experience in publishing papers in top Chinese and English academic journals.
Finally, Professor Chen Lin summarized the academic lecture. This event provided an excellent learning and exchange opportunity for teachers and students of the School of Management. Professor Li addressed numerous doubts encountered by attendees in their academic research journey, leaving all participants with substantial gains.
Li Qingyuan is a Second-Class Professor, Visiting Scholar at Columbia University, and Vice Dean of the School of Economics and Management, Wuhan University. He has been selected into prestigious talent programs including the Young Scholar of the National High-Level Talent Program, the Ministry of Education’s "New Century Excellent Talent Support Program", the Ministry of Finance’s Accounting Leading Talent Special Support Program, and Wuhan University’s Outstanding Scholar in Humanities and Social Sciences. He has received honors such as the 14th "Respect Teachers and Love Learning - Top 10 Favorite Excellent Teachers" of Wuhan University, the 3rd "Professor Zha Quanxing 1977 Teaching Award", and Wuhan University’s Excellent Undergraduate Teaching Performance Award. Additionally, he serves as a Member of the National Advisory Committee for Auditing Professional Degree Graduate Education and a Member of the Sub-Committee for Accounting Teaching Guidance of the Ministry of Education.
Professor Li has presided over major projects such as the National Social Science Fund Major Project and National Natural Science Foundation of China projects. He has published more than 60 academic papers in top journals including Review of Financial Studies, The Accounting Review, Economic Research Journal, Management World, and China Economic Quarterly. More than 10 of his research reports and policy recommendations have been approved or adopted by state leaders, provincial and ministerial-level leaders, as well as platforms such as the Ministry of Education Briefing and Guangming Daily Internal Reference.
