To deepen the effectiveness of safety education and legal education, and guide students to strengthen legal awareness and regulate words and deeds, on April 25, the School of Management, together with Beijing Zhongwen (Xi’an) Law Firm, held a special report entitled Youth Walks with the Law — College Students’ Crime Prevention Through Case Interpretation. Nearly 200 students attended the report. The event was hosted by Zhang Yu, counselor for the 2024 undergraduate students, with Lawyer Wang Jiayao as the keynote speaker.

In the lecture, Lawyer Wang Jiayao adopted a combination of case analysis and legal interpretation to systematically explain seven major areas of criminal legal risks. Focusing on the prevention of cybercrime, she took frequently occurring crimes such as aiding information network criminal activities and infringement on citizens’ personal information as entry points. By analyzing real cases in which students were misled into fraud, she revealed the traps of online part-time jobs and risks of personal information abuse, warning young students to build a solid legal defense line.
Regarding sexual crimes and drug-related crimes, she clarified legal boundaries from the perspective of constitutional elements of crimes, and put forward practical preventive suggestions based on judicial practice. She advocated that young people should establish a legal concept of “valuing self-protection and respecting others equally”, so as to achieve both crime prevention and rights protection.
This case-based lecture effectively improved students’ awareness and capacity of “knowing the law, abiding by the law and using the law”, injecting positive legal energy into building a safe campus and supporting the healthy growth of young people. It is hoped that when dealing with online risks and campus conflicts, students can properly use legal weapons to protect their own rights and interests, and become college students in the new era who know, abide by and use the law.
