The 11th Management Science and Culture Festival "Innovative Management · Smart Future" Concluded Successfully

To strengthen the organic integration of disciplinary characteristics and the "Second Classroom", deepen the study and application of management knowledge, and improve the management literacy and practical ability of teachers and students, the School of Management launched the 11th Management Science and Culture Festival themed "Innovative Management · Smart Future" on November 1.

During the one-month event, the School of Management successively held a series of themed activities, including the "Innovative Management · Smart Future" series of lectures, "Approaching Management" Famous Enterprise Tours, Undergraduate Innovation and Entrepreneurship Climbing Program, Postgraduate Innovation Forum, and Mock Job Fair, creating a feast of knowledge and fun. Teachers and students of the whole school participated actively and jointly appreciated the infinite charm of management science.

"Innovative Management · Smart Future" Series of Themed Lectures

To provide teachers and students with opportunities to communicate face‑to‑face with well‑known scholars in the management field and keep abreast of cutting‑edge developments in management theory and practice, the Culture Festival invited distinguished experts to deliver a series of excellent lectures.

Lecture 1: Prof. Liu Yuewen, Xi’an Jiaotong University

The Five Levels of Artificial Intelligence

On November 1, Prof. Liu Yuewen from the School of Management, Xi’an Jiaotong University interpreted artificial intelligence and management reform for teachers and students. Starting from the history of AI development, he systematically explained the five levels of artificial intelligence, and discussed the practical applications, existing defects of AI technology, and the future development of the "AI + business model".

Lecture 2: Prof. Chen Jian, Tsinghua University

Green Disposable Packaging Strategies Considering Bring Your Own Cup

On the morning of November 4, Prof. Chen Jian from Tsinghua University combined the environmental practices of coffee brands including Starbucks to explore the environmental potential of the Bring Your Own Container (BYOC) model. He extracted a series of scientific issues from practice and conducted in‑depth research, and explored the interactions among enterprises, consumers and the government by constructing models.

Lecture 3: Prof. Steven Dellaportas, Xi’an Jiaotong‑Liverpool University

Interdisciplinary Research in Accounting! Fact or Fiction

On the morning of November 7, Prof. Steven Dellaportas from Xi’an Jiaotong‑Liverpool University conducted academic exchanges on interdisciplinary research (IDR) in accounting, introduced the three levels of interdisciplinary research, and interpreted the current situation of interdisciplinary research in accounting.

Lecture 4: Prof. Huang Jun, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics

Accounting‑Driven: IFRS 9 Compliance and Digital Transformation of Banks

On the morning of November 12, Prof. Huang Jun from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics explained in simple terms how IFRS 9 compliance incentivizes banks to make strategic adjustments and increase IT investment, playing an important role in promoting the digital transformation of banks.

Lecture 5: Prof. Xiao Yongbo, Tsinghua University

Who Should Donate? Socially Responsible Supply Chain Donation Strategies for Prosocial Consumers

On the morning of November 13, Prof. Xiao Yongbo from Tsinghua University elaborated on the transformation of enterprises from pursuing profit maximization to balancing social responsibility in the new era, as well as the importance of ESG criteria. He analyzed the optimal donation strategies of different entities in the supply chain through examples and models.

Lecture 6: Assoc. Prof. Xiao Ping, Northwestern Polytechnical University

The Art of Management Communication

On November 14, Assoc. Prof. Xiao Ping from the School of Management, Northwestern Polytechnical University deeply analyzed the importance and core components of management communication. Through vivid case studies and interactive teaching, he led students to immerse themselves in the practice and application of management communication.

Lecture 7: Prof. Li Jiatao, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

Environmental Performance of Multinational Corporations: Evidence from Carbon Emission Reduction

On November 18, Prof. Li Jiatao from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology elaborated on the current trends and future directions of international business research in emerging markets. He introduced five special issues of the Journal of International Business Studies, a top international management journal, and emphasized the significance of research on resilience and sustainable development of multinational corporations, overseas investment, and internationalization of family firms.

Lecture 8: Asst. Prof. Wu Haoran, Sun Yat‑sen University

Markov‑Modulated Fluid Models and Their Applications in Queueing Systems

On the morning of November 19, Asst. Prof. Wu Haoran from Sun Yat‑sen University started from the main components of basic queueing models, and gradually went deep into the steady‑state analysis and algorithms of Markov Modulated Fluid Flow (MMFF) models. Through examples of multi‑layer MMFF processes and the emergency department medical queueing system, he demonstrated research methods for the correlation between service and arrival processes.

Lecture 9: Mr. Zhang Chuanzong, Renowned Entrepreneur

Doing What Makes Life Fulfilling in an Era of Change

On November 29, Mr. Zhang Chuanzong, renowned entrepreneur, founder and CEO of Sishijufang, shared his growth experience based on his study at Renmin University of China and work at Lenovo. He talked about challenges and opportunities at different stages of life, closely integrated with innovation and entrepreneurship practices, and inspired students to think deeply about the management discipline.

"Approaching Management" Famous Enterprise Tours

Qinchuangyuan Innovation‑Driven Platform Practical Study Tour

On November 7, teachers and students from the School of Management visited the Qinchuangyuan Comprehensive Service Center to learn about the establishment and development of the Qinchuangyuan innovation‑driven platform. They visited the innovative achievements of enterprises incubated by Tsinghua Holdings Sci‑Tech Innovation and the scientific research achievements of Huayudingzun, gaining insights into Shaanxi’s scientific and technological innovation ecosystem and representative scientific and technological achievements. They also toured the Qinchuangyuan Capital Market Exhibition Hall and Enterprise Roadshow Hall to learn about the integration of capital and innovation resources and the transformation of scientific research achievements, experiencing the operation and management of startup enterprises firsthand.

Visit to ZTE Corporation Finance Cloud

On November 14, postgraduate and undergraduate students majoring in accounting and finance from the School of Management visited Xi’an ZTE Corporation Finance Cloud. By visiting the Global Expense Center, International Fund Center, Global Accounting Center and Financial Talent Training Base, students gained a direct understanding of the actual workflow of enterprise operation and financial management.

Undergraduate Innovation and Entrepreneurship Climbing Program

To cultivate undergraduates’ interest and ability in innovation and entrepreneurship and deepen their understanding of the management field, the School of Management officially launched the "Undergraduate Innovation and Entrepreneurship Climbing Program" in November 2024. Teachers were encouraged to transform scientific research projects and achievements into training programs for innovation and entrepreneurship project cultivation. This year, 35 projects were approved and supported, involving 98 students. The school made good use of the new media matrix to carry out continuous publicity, sorting out discipline competitions and innovation & entrepreneurship competitions monthly and pushing them to the school’s official WeChat account for timely access by teachers and students.


Postgraduate Innovation Forum

As an important part of the Management Science and Culture Festival, the Postgraduate Innovation Forum attracted outstanding postgraduate representatives from Chang’an University, Northwest University and Xi’an Jiaotong University to carry out academic exchanges, successfully promoting cross‑university and cross‑disciplinary communication and collaboration.

Three Schools of Management Gather to Inspire New Thinking in Management

On November 14, outstanding postgraduate representatives from the School of Management, Northwestern Polytechnical University, the School of Economics and Management, Chang’an University, and the School of Economics and Management, Northwest University held heated discussions on management innovation and interdisciplinary integration, exploring how to promote the innovative development of management discipline in the new era.

Management & Energy Join Hands to Spark New Ideas in the Culture Festival

On November 26, the Postgraduate Association of the School of Management, Northwestern Polytechnical University and the Postgraduate Association of the School of Energy and Power Engineering, Xi’an Jiaotong University held an exchange activity. They conducted in‑depth discussions on event planning and integration of disciplinary characteristics, exploring ways to provide better services and more diversified development platforms for postgraduate students.

Mock Job Fair

On November 29, the school joined hands with Fangtian Education Group to hold a job‑seeking skills sharing session as a prelude to the mock job fair, delivering a carefully prepared "Career Launch Package" to students. Mr. Liu Jiawang, the keynote speaker, provided students with in‑depth guidance on career planning, resume writing and interview strategies, offering a highly practical session to help them soar in their future careers. The School of Management will continue to hold mock recruitment activities to provide students with real job‑seeking experience.

"Second Classroom" Achievement Exhibition of the School of Management

With the successful conclusion of the Management Science and Culture Festival, we have witnessed the collision of wisdom and the emergence of innovation. May this Culture Festival not only become a precious experience for students’ academic exploration, but also inspire their infinite longing and pursuit for the future of the management field. Let us move forward together, explore and innovate continuously in the broad world of management, and write a more brilliant chapter!
