On January 8, 2024, at the invitation of the School of Management, Professor Xin Qingquan from the School of Economics and Business Administration, Chongqing University visited the school for academic exchanges and delivered an academic report entitled Equity Incentives of A-share Listed Companies. The report was hosted by Professor Chen Lin and attended by some faculty members and graduate students of the School of Management.

At the beginning of the report, Professor Chen Lin briefly introduced Professor Xin Qingquan’s research directions, scientific achievements and academic contributions, and the participating teachers and students extended a warm welcome to Professor Xin Qingquan. In this report, Professor Xin first expounded on the research context and key issues of agency problems and equity incentives based on the basic principles of equity incentives. Combining the realistic context of China, he introduced the current practice of equity incentives in Chinese listed companies with humorous language and vivid examples. Subsequently, Professor Xin shared the common forms of equity incentives for A-share listed companies, including stock options, restricted stocks, and employee stock ownership plans, and elaborated on each part in detail, which provided great help for the audience to gain an in-depth understanding of equity incentives. Finally, Professor Xin compared the differences in equity incentives between Chinese and American listed companies, sorted out the main findings of existing literature, and based on the reflection on China’s institutional background and regulatory policies, proposed potential entry points for future research.
After the presentation, Professor Xin Qingquan conducted in-depth exchanges with the on-site teachers and students on topics such as equity incentive behaviors of listed companies and experience in publishing papers in top international journals. The lecture concluded successfully with warm applause. Professor Chen Lin expressed sincere gratitude for Professor Xin’s sharing, and all participants said they had benefited a lot. This academic report provided an important communication opportunity for the teachers and students of the school to improve their professional literacy, broaden their research horizons, and grasp the development direction of related research.
Xin Qingquan is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Economics and Business Administration, Chongqing University. He was selected into the Ministry of Education’s Major Talent Project in 2019 and the Ministry of Finance’s Accounting Master Training Program in the same year. His research fields include accounting, auditing, securities regulation and corporate governance. He has published many academic papers in top international accounting journals such as The Accounting Review, well-known SSCI journals including Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Business Ethics and British Accounting Review, as well as domestic authoritative journals such as Accounting Research, Journal of Financial Research, Economic Research Journal, Management World and Quarterly Journal of Economics. He won the Second-Class Award for Outstanding Achievements in Humanities and Social Sciences of the Eighth Ministry of Education in 2020, and was nominated for the National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation in 2009. He currently serves as Executive Editor-in-Chief of Contemporary Accounting Review, Field Editor (Accounting) of Luojia Management Review, Guest Editorial Board Member of China Accounting Review, and Editorial Board Member of Accounting and Economic Research.
