Time:2025-06-16 Reads:

On the afternoon of June 14, 2025, Associate Professor Luke Zhu from the Schulich School of Business at York University, Canada, was invited to deliver an academic lecture titled "Biohacking For a Better Day? An Experimental ESM Study of Noninvasive Transcutaneous Vagal Nerve Stimulation and Anxiety-Mediated Daily Workplace Outcomes" in Lecture Hall 214 of the School of Management, Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU). This lecture was the 12th session of the 2025 Overseas Lecture Series hosted by the School of Management. It was chaired by Professor Chang Yu, and attended by faculty members, undergraduate students, and graduate students from the school.

At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Chang Yu briefly introduced Associate Professor Luke Zhu's academic background and research achievements. In his presentation, Associate Professor Zhu systematically explored the potential effects of non-invasive transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation technology on alleviating workplace anxiety and improving employees' daily work efficiency. Through a dynamic experimental design, the study revealed how bio-intervention technologies influence individuals' emotional states and work performance by regulating the autonomic nervous system. This innovative research not only provides an empirical example of the integration of management and neuroscience but also offers cutting-edge solutions for enterprises to improve employee mental health and optimize organizational management practices.

During the interactive Q&A session, Associate Professor Zhu engaged in lively discussions with the faculty and students present on topics such as experimental design logic, interdisciplinary methodological challenges, and future research directions. He also shared practical advice on submitting papers to top international journals. Professor Chang Yu then delivered a brief summary of the session. The participants expressed their sincere gratitude to Associate Professor Zhu with warm applause once again, marking the successful conclusion of the academic lecture.
